I originally started at GolfDigest.com as Internet Content Specialist, coding pages in HTML, creating and optimizing graphics, and backfilling the database with issues from the three magazines owned by Golf Digest. When we switched to Open Market's Internet Publishing System, my role grew into that of developer (as was planned when I originally accepted the job), building templates and mini-sites, converting our HTML code into IPS's proprietary XML-compliant code, and creating collections and SQL queries in the system. During this time, I learned basic SQL and Unix commands, and began studying Java.
